Few, if any salmon around in the beats we fished. Lowish but clearish water, blazing sun all day. Not ideal conditions. Nothing seen.

Blazing sunshine all day, river clear, good flow. I tried to fish Pashley's Crib at the top of the beat but the access is extremely difficult and I was not confident of being able to get back if I waded down so I gave it up. I then went down to the Ford stream below Goodrich Castle - a lovely stretch of fly water which I enjoyed fishing down until I tripped over a rock and immersed myself. The wading is OK, but for someone of my age and infirmity it gets a bit deep, and getting up the bank is an undignified affair. I saw no sign of a fish, but conditions were unfriendly.

Didn't attempt to fish as upon arrival had 20 plus canoes constantly in view floating down the river - nightmare! After watching the river for 15 minutes decided it wasn't worth the hassle and headed home.

Fished top beat first which is not easy access and gave up after an hour. Fished the entire Lower beat which was a nice mix of slower water and a nice stretch just past the castle. Spun under the bridge and got a 4lb Pike but saw a silver fish jumping in the pool beyond the bridge. Weather sunny with showers

It is very difficult to access to the upstream and medium beat. Lack of access to the river. No sign of fish. Great day anyway.
