The two Gamallt Lakes (24 and 5 acres) are situated in the Western part of the Migneint Mountain and are a fairly easy 25-minute walk from the car park. Both lakes are recovering from the effects of acid rain after being limed in 1994 and being closed for fishing for a few seasons. They are now considered one of the finest wild brown fisheries in Wales, although a three fish limit is still in force. The best results are had evening and night fishing from mid June onwards.

At the top end of the small lake is a cabin that can be used, by anglers, for shelter if the need arose.

Local flies, known as "Ffestiniog Flies", work best at the Gamallt Lakes. There are collections of these flies for day fishing, night fishing and for different periods during the fishing season. The more popular of these flies are :- Mallard and Chocolate, Reddish-Black Sedge, Hares Ear Sedge, Large Reddish-Black Sedge, Robat Jos' Shop Sedge, (and a few other sedges), Fflambo, Mallard and Claret and the Heather Fly.

A day ticket here also covers 14 other Cambrian AA stillwaters for you to roam around in one day.
