Fished from 6 am after a 4 am start from Swansea. My mobility is not what it used to be but find fishing down the Maddox around the corner down to Vanstone OK with help of the large waterside stones which makes easy access and even allows spey casting while sitting.
Will be back. Only one un-catchable fish showed on corner .

Mick guided us for the morning. Excellent company, definitely recommend for anyone unfamiliar with the beat. His knowledge and experience v interesting. River had strange tinge, despite being good height (0.34).
As for salmon eerily quiet, think similar story for all beats above Monmouth. Sporadic hatch of canoes started about 10.30.

River carrying some colour still and overhead conditions excellent. Saw one fish in the Vanstones but despite some confidence not a touch. My search for a Wye Salmon continues!

River is decent condition, good level and reasonable clarity, but did not see any salmon moving.

Weds 1 July. Good cloud cover and fresh clearing water with good flow. 4 fish seen, 1 take no none caught. Fished 7am till 7pm

water was at a good and the temperature about 14c. the whole of the beat was in excellent condition with pathways and entry to pools strimmed. A few fish were seen but no takers except for 2 chub, a pleasure to be there.
