We were fishing the cenf rhosan fawr beat and it was beautiful, but no fish. It might have just been because it was out first time fly fishing, but it seemed like there were no fish where we’d expect them to fish. I’m new to fly fishing, but I have a lot of experience in other types of fishing and understand the fundamentals of where to find fish and what flies to use. And walking up the river, it seemed like it would be packed with trout. Nice runs and water falls with deep holes, yet no fish to be seen. Again, probably nothing to do with the stretch and is just because we are new. The views are truly stunning and we will definitely return. BUT, for anyone who is planning to go that has never been, be careful of the rocks!!!. They are VERY slippery in some places and we all fell over a few times. Although, it was good laugh.

Opposite side of the reservoir from burger van. Group of anglers & caught 4 between us. Two guys next to us were catching literally 20M away, they packed up and we had 1 fish after their departure. The group fished for 12 hours, I fished for 10. Seemed very quiet around with not many people catching. With the water level so high the accessible bank spots can be quite limited and restricted due to the trees being over grown making casting hard.

Low water, hooked a salmon which was a big surprise aprox 5/6 lbs,but did not land it.all trout 10-14 inches.

Late evening rise was good, but frustrating, hooked just 3 on a ballon caddis dry 16# hook. A few small ones on tungsten in the fast runs.Bridge pool was alive with fish feeding from about 8.45pm. The hatch was impressive, with even the odd may fly, injoyed the swifts taking them in mid air 4-5 ft from my head was brilliant! You really need to stay late ,fished til 10.15 .
My eyes gave up by then. Be nice to have a foot of fresh water,as it’s low. Otters calling on the other bank.

Only fished 10 til 2 due to the ridiculous volume of canoe/kayak/paddleboard traffic. We're all used to it but yesterday was off the scale, as confirmed by an instructor on one of the boards who said it was the busiest day she'd known since lockdown. Hey ho, better luck next time, roll on Sept.

A hatch very late, maybe 10-10.30pm, though hard to match - a small olive and medium sedge worked a bit. Lost a big fish in the flats (on the sedge in near-dark), which went like a rocket for the far bank for a minute or two. Darn.
