Only two of us on the beat today some colour in the low water and luxuriant weed growth. No interest in our flies and 2, perhaps 3 fish seen.

Water very coloured

River low and water clarity very poor.

Heavy algae. No sign of any fish

'Browned off' by algal bloom. Fished for half an hour. Visibility 12-15". Colour horrible. Enjoyed Mick's guided tour of the beat - very helpful.

River clarity about 18inches and quite brown, a mixture of fly and spin due to the conditions. We saw only 2 salmon all day and both of those were in the Vanstone pool and nothing else moved in any of the other pools upstream.

Water coloured down to 25cm if visibility. Tried fly and a bit of spinning. No interest.

River slightly coloured on arrival. Saw a few resident salmon move, but very few fish around. River rose (about 4”) and coloured up pm. Caught 3 Shad.

Lovely salmon of 36", fat as well, returned in good condition. Taken on fly, along with 2 shad. 8lb pike on flying C.

Water very coloured, and only an extreme optimist would fish it expecting to catch a salmon. Being such a person, I fished it anyway. Salmon must be short sighted, as I caught no less than 10 shad. 3 salmon seen, but the rest must have been hiding. Sad to see this lovely river run chocolate brown due to farm runoff. Soil health obviously not a priority in this catchment area. Thank you Mick for you wise advice, always heeded!
