The river appeared to be high and fast. I did not have any luck using a variety of dry flies or nymphs.

Fished for an hour with the children between 8 and 9pm, shared one rod between 3 of us. Caught and returned 2 good brown trout (1lb and 1.5lb). Used upstream nymphing through broken water with Black Pennel on dropper and gold bead GRHE, both fish took dropper.
River was dropping and clear. Lots of rising fish. Will definitely return when I have a bit more time.

2 Trout

Fished small salmon fly down the length twice in morning, then once more late evening. Small trout only seen, one hooked and returned. Water clear enough to see most of bottom and no salmon or fish above 8oz seen. Access is not possible to upstream of island because of dense undergrowth. 'Walkway' is badly in need of repair and is dangerous. A wading stick is essential.

No fish caught or seen but nice to get out for a few hours.

River virtually unfishable after heavy rain. Highly coloured with strong downstream winds. Two trout caught at end of afternoon as river fined down a little.

2 Trout

Beautiful stretch of river. No salmon but three excellent brown trout. Marking promising pools on the beat map would help anglers.

3 fish taken, each approx. 3/4 lb. 4 returned, ranging from 3.5 inch to 7.5 inch.

Super day out on the hottest day of July ever recorded, supported by Chris Price of casting with style. Lots of fish about but none energetic enough to bite.

Dry fly, emergers, All fish one pound or over. River in very good condition. Most fish taken in lower half of beat, didn't have time to fish riffles.

First time on this beat, and enjoyed it. River low and clear, persistent downstream wind, and sunny most of the time. So not ideal.
Fish were hard to come by, caught 4, missed 2 good fish. Probably could have done better but just nice to stand in the river for a few hours. Had to take a trout on the Salmon Rod as hooked badly, about 1 and 1/2 pound.
