One long distance release for J.D. from Ledbury otherwise quiet. Our thanks to D.R. from Bristol who advised not to set up until after the jungle adventure from carpark to river bank. A run through with a bill hook would not go amiss.
D.R. from Bristol was right about the wading- definitely "stumbly" rather than gravel: Not good for dodgy knees.

Both fish taken while prospecting with a dry fly. Only saw one rise other than the ones i could lure up.
First time on this beat... challenging access if in a motorhome- was actually very alarming at points down the access lane! I highly advise anyone to set their rods up once down at the river rather than attempting to navigate the overgrown path with rods set up. Would have much preferred to have been on the other bank but really no chance of crossing the river!
Anyway, my first Usk trout in the net which is lovely, but i would look to explore other beats on next visit to the river.

Arrived with another angler on the water from Merthyr Tydfil angling club stating they had told him that this stretch was available to fish?
Plenty of fly life but being broken twice and losing my 3rd Mayfly to a tree made matching the hatch difficult! Plenty of fly life about with a decent number of mays being taken by rising trout as the evening progressed.
Met with a big dog otter at last knockings.

Not impressed. This was booked due to the description being described as good for easy access !
I do wonder if the Wye and Usk staff have ever been there !!!
The access is down broken stone steps and mud , with a broken hand rail etc .
This takes you down to the area that is a small channel by the back of the island , then let’s talk about the wading to access any other part of the beat … one word …. Lethal
It is NOT gravel it is large boulders and deep MUD in the margins . I am a confident wader but gave up on the end.
What an absolute waste of £40 … never even set a rod up !
