A very chilly day where the cold curtailed events through rendering the feet almost inoperable - not to mention the fingers. But 2 OOS brownies came to the net in the bridge pool from clink and dink tactics. A truly beautiful beat.

One superb grayling of about a pound and three OOS brownies. All taken from the lovely little glide on the far side of the bridge pool. Clink and dink did the trick.

A great day’s Fishing thank you Richard - grayling coming to deep fish bugs, odd fish rising to dark olives. Accessibility to pools much easier now that gravel has moved in to many of the pools making wading much easier and holding an increased amount of fish in many runs. Highly recommend this beat for winter grayling dry fly fishing - it takes some beating on the whole of the Wye.

wet and windy. This is very much a salmon fishery, and not for the trout angler who wants to work there way upstream on a dry fly. I was specifically targeting the large grayling that sit in the necks of the large pools. I hooked one large unidentified fish in one of those pools. Finished the day with four small trout and a small grayling.

I struggled to get to grips with this river beat, I found it too deep to wade into at most points with big drop offs right next to the banks in most areas. It looked like the far bank (opposite side to the main road) would be a better but i could not find a point shallow enough to cross over. The bed is scattered with boulders and exceptionally slippy in studded rubber soles. In the end I short line nymphed almost off the bank and picked off a nice grayling and 3 smaller fish.
