Rain, Rain and more rain. This coupled with the wind didnt help matters. Unfortunately no fish caught and no rises, this is the second time I have been here, the first time was a washout, I doubt I will be returning.
Access to the river is quite hard especially when the water is slightly coloured as you cannot see the bottom and are unsure how deep it is in places, approx halfway upstream there is a barbed wire fence which cannot be crossed the only solution is to drop into the water from a very steep slippery bank. This may need rectifying

Rained all day and very windy so the hatch was minimal. Mainly exploring with nymph, but little success except 2 small trout.

Not much in the way of fly hatching so on went the goldhead PT, size 14 fished upstream. Fourteen mainly smaller fish were caught, with another five around the 8-10" and one beauty of 16"(two pounds?). Heavy morning rainstorms coloured the river a little in the afternoon, and the river entering from Talybont had a strong sewage smell. Overall an interesting beat with some very large fish spotted.

A lovely beat, this one. One of the best three I imagine. A poor day though. It rained solidly and the water was very high and coloured. Not safe to venture in, in most parts! No sign of salmon, but trout started rising mid afternoon. Some mayfly in still in evidence.

Weather showery. No rises and little apparant activity. Fished the whole beat caught 8 small brownies on dark nymphs (Diawl Bach similar). Tried small buzzers and emergers to no effect. Great day despite our poor show.

Fished pm and evening on an overcast cool day with a gusty strong wind. No surface activity early pm so fished a team of wet flies downstream with little success - just 2 small brownies caught near the top of the beat in fast water. By early evening some sporadic surface feeding between strong gusts in response to hatches of olives and iron blues. 2 brownies were then taken on dry fly, one of approx 12 oz and another slightly over 1 lb. Lovely stretch of river that I suspect would fish much better in more favorable conditions.

The river was low (5in on brecon cam) and the water gin clear. Warm and overcast so we expected a hatch but the wind and rain soon arrived to kill the sport. Finished the day with a few small brownies, no sign of larger fish except one large salmon.

We started at around 11:00, and after a chat with the chap who looks after the beat (very informative and didn't catch his name!)headed right to the top and commenced from the bridge.
The river is fairly wide on this beat, and the lower water made access relatively easy, but there was still a good flow of water so some of the wading was tricky.
Light rain stopped pretty quickly, and with a warm overcast day, the conditions looked good (despite a periodic and brisk upstream wind).
We worked right through about two-thirds of the beat, and fishing small (16/18) dark nymphs across and down, managed 20+ fish between us - a terrific result for 2 enthusiastic amateurs! All were small wbt, the best to about 1.5 lbs, but what scrappers! All safely returned.
They came from a real mix of water, but mostly from the faster runs and glides at the heads and tails of slower pools and stretches.
A wonderful beat, but worth watching the river gauges as higher water would mean much more limited access

Fabulous beat with plenty of 2-4lb trout clearly seen. Caught 1 x 1lb and 1 x 9oz trout both returned. Both caught on foam body daddy. 20lb salmon seen jumping out of the pool half way along the beat. significant hatches including mayfly. Great day and the sun even came out at 3pm!
