This is a great beat and very long however there are sections with difficult (impossible) access due to high banks and thick vegetation.
Really sunny day and water level was fairly low but there was still plenty of variety to fish and experiemnet with different techniques. Saw fish about but not many and noticed signs of otter activity.
Managed to tempt a WBT of well over a 1lb within 10 minutes of arriving. Promising start, however that was it for 4 hours. Managed another much smaller trout and a good grayling in the afternoon. No serious afternoon rise unfortunately but much fly-life in the evening with the fishing rising nicely. Problem was the vast variety of flies and I just couldn't match the hatch. Great day though and Charlie, the owner, was very welcoming.

Caught on nymph. No hatches and very little fish rises or movement seen. Overcast, the promised sun not showing until we left the river. Long beat with very good stretches to fish.

River clear and quite low. Slightly overcast with some light drizzle. 3 rods fishing 3 methods - dry fly, Duo and nymphs on a French leader. Single dry fly accounting for 7 trout around the 25 to 30cm mark.
2 to Duo, 1 to upstream nymph. Countless Salmon parr. All fish returned. Good to see a few Mayfly come off but fish were not particularly interested.
A difficult day and a bit of a puzzle. Conditions appeared to be ideal for a 20 fish a piece day but not to be. We'd not fished this beat in Summer before... Maybe this is more of a winter grayling venue? It's a fabulous stretch of river nonetheless.

River was high which made wading quite difficult for 3 old guys, so we could not cover all the water. Caught one small wild brownie. Beautiful peaceful beat and we thoroughly enjoyed our day. Thank you again to Alyson and the Wye and Usk Foundation.

A great day at Cefnllysgwynne. Very hot and the majority of the fish caught early on before the heat came. Biggest fish of the day was 15", all to the dry, and all spotted and cast to.
A great day on a great water!

Small bead headed nymph pattern used.
Despite overnight rain the river was clear and fairly low, but it was a rainy day with no surface activity at all
Two small fingerlings and two 10" all returned
A lovely day out in glorious surroundings, thanks very much.

River still too high really at 0.76 but clearing during the day. Wading obviously quite challenging but it was good to be out nevertheless. Some fly came off but not a great deal and very few fish seen to rise. Most of fish came to nymphs/bugs but one 40 cm grayling to spider pattern and a nice 1 1/2 lbs trout to gold head bug as well. Fished from about half way up.
Water felt very cold and it may have been this which kept them with their heads down.

Lovely day on the river, stayed fairly fine and bright most of the day with occasional showers. The water level was lower than the average but clear, cold and fast flowing. We caught 2 trout (half pounder and a juvenile) and the grayling was about 14 inches.
Fish were caught during the 30 minutes of activity between 1pm and 1.30pm whilst the large up-wing hatch was going on, which was fairly spectacular. Alas it didn't last and all went quiet again for the rest of the afternoon.
Really enjoyed the beat which had lots of variety with rapids, falls, glides, pools and long sow sections.
That said, we only caught on dries during the early afternoon hatch.
