Next to Aymestrey, Lyepole is probably my favourite Lugg beat. Unlike most of the river, Lyepole will invariably produce on those dog days of summer. Not that today fell into that category; there was a distinctly autumnal feel to it, with the overnight rain putting just that hint of colour in the water. The Grayling were really having it, with fish caught - and usually 2 or 3 of them in rapid order - from just about every run I fished. Mostly fish in the 8 to 10 inch class; but there were plenty at 1lb plus - including a brace, that I caught on consecutive casts nudging 2lbs a piece. All on tungsten nymph. Trout, which mostly came from the same shallow run, taken on a tan klinkhammer. Tres bonne!

Really nice stretch of water. Directions included the slightly vague comment along lines of 'travel 1-2 miles till you get to a bridge'. It worked out OK but can't directions of all the fishing be a little more precise, perhaps to include post code of nearest property for satnavs?? Grayling caught on a small iron blue dun, the trout on small bead head pheasant tail nymph. All three, 6-8 inches.

Bright start turning cloudy with a bit of rain in the late afternoon. Not much evidence of life, only occasional rises under very low branches - assume taking terrestrials falling in to the stream. Nothing seen hatching all day, I wonder if this is something to do with the huge amounts of thick brown algae coating the stream bed in all but the fastest flowing of sections? The only stones showing signs of invertebrate life were those in the quick sections clear of growth.
All fish were in the 4-6" bracket taken from the deeper pools on the lower half of the beat on GRHE and a black magic nymph, except for a grayling taken on the surface on the top half on a black F-fly under an overhanging branch.

Superb day's fishing in excellent conditions. The water was crystal clear and in good flow and the weather was warm and sunny with some cloud. All fish were taken on a beaded hare's ear nymph fished upstrean. The three trout were small bit in great condition and the grayling ranged from tiny to a few ounces but nonetheless great fun to catch. Lovely fishing at Lyepole and well with a visit.

River was quite fast flowing and slightly high, no sign of any fish, bit disappointing.

Water was a bit too high and running fast. Access was good in places, other places you had to find an access and double back on yourself. Fish taken on heavy nymphs. IMHO the price is slightly high, I would suggest £15 would be nearer the mark.

Lovely day warm. Water running fast and a little high from what I remember from last visit 5 years ago. Caught 1 trout to talk about on klinkhammer. Access to water excellent with recent work. PS if anyone trips over a black metal wading staff near start of beat let me know. Lost in vegetation.

Brilliant setting and promising looking water. Unfortunately still a bit high from rain this week.

Looks great. Typical Lugg with cloudy grey clear water and deep holes. We tried everything no real success. Costly for the beat in comparison to whats around. £15 would be nearer the mark but would try again, its in a special place. Saw Pied Flycatcher.
