River high but steady, windy and raining most of the day. 2 barbel caught and 2 lost from swims below the wood using mostly meat hook baits.

2 Barbel

Tough conditions today with rising river, heavy rain and windy. Could only fish inside line but no luck for any of us. To make matters worse we all ventured to the second field - what a hike !

Five barbel and a small chub from the river below the woods, all taken on pellet except for the chub which fell to maggot. Biggest fish was 7lb 15oz, with two coming early morning and the three remaining barbel late afternoon.

Tough day fishing in and below the wood, possibly hampered by the slightly colder weather and success on this beat the previous day. Beautiful, nonetheless.

Started off in the first field but not a bite so we moved below the woods and fished two swims, one in the middle of the field and one towards the woods. We both had 14 barbel each with the biggest going 9.9. All caught on single 8mm pellet to a 16 hook, only one fish lost. River began to rise after previous days rain but we caught pretty consistently throughout the day.

Only 1 barbel up to about 5 o’clock then a further 4 and 2 chub in following 2 hours,swimfeeder fished pellet and meat as hookbait.

Fished in the field below the wood. No bites until 4.15 when fish began to feed. 1 chub 3lbs about 5.30. After sunset had a barbel run but lost it. 2 anglers at the bottom end of the field caught barbel from 3pm into dark.
