A quick check of the river gauges and webcams on-line prevented a wasted journey, up and coloured would put it mildly!
Still, always another day…

Fished the church stream pool all day with feeder and pellet. Heavy rain throughout and river well up and coloured. Hard conditions, couldn't find fish anywhere. Will come back in the summer!

Had a very enjoyable day on The Creel. After the recent storm, I was told by a dog walker that the river was about 2m up on normal levels. While I was there, the river dropped about a metre and this helped the fishing. While 4oz feeders struggled to hold bottom at start of day I managed to hold bottom for three barbel,to 8lb between 11am and 1pm. Fished pellet and boilie. I am looking forward to returning in the summer.

Regrettably I booked the same day as Dorris arrived and was greeted by a river about 10ft up and waves nearly as large

The river was not only unfishable and I have plenty experience fishing rivers which are in flood it would have been dangerous to even contemplate fishing

A nice days fishing in spring like weather. 3 chub to 4lb caught on bread in the bottom field but a switch to fishing for barbel failed to raise a bite there. A move upstream to the church field brought 3 barbel late in the afternoon to bomb and pellet, best about 5lb. It was a pleasure to witness the other angler fishing having a very good days fishing close by, he certainly knew his stuff.

Tough day on the bank. River up and running fast taking 6oz feeders to hold bottom. Weather mild but water was very cold. I had 2 barbel one mid morning and one right at last light both scrapped brilliantly. My dad lost 2 fish in a snag that the flow seemed to direct them into and I lost a chub in the same area.
