a day in the Herefordshire countryside is special even if the fishing was a struggle

1 Barbel, 2 Chub

Crystal clear water and bright sunshine made for difficult conditions with all fish caught during first and last hour.

4 Barbel, 12 Chub

Mobile approach,covered a lot of water, failed to find any steady bite producing areas, fished 12 hours, canoes not too much of a problem

3 Barbel, 4 Chub

Perfect conditions on a glorious day. Thanks to Terry for his guidance.

3 Trout

Great days fishing. ....Used various baits including meat, paste and pellets ledgered Had over 20 fish barbel chub and a trout. Seen many salmon jumping clear of the water.
It ended with great excitement and trepidation as a huge herd of female cows took a shine to me and surrounded me.
Although in hindsight they were harmless I cant pretend I wasn't petrified initially.
Beautiful place, great fishing and well done John Harris on catching your first river fish on the pin....

1 Trout, 10 Barbel, 10 Chub

9lb 8oz Barbel, 2 Chub on crust/breadflake, freelined and trotted. 2 Firsts for me, more than happy, could have caught more if I'd put mor effort into catching numbers. Will be back, loads of river not yet fished. Thanks to Terry for his input.

1 Barbel, 3 Chub

River was fairly high and running quite fast following heavy rain. I saw 3 salmon-leaps and a family of very noisy otters! The chub were caught on trotted bread. Sorry for not doing this before - my printer ran out of ink!

4 Chub

I used a flying C all day.

5 Trout

Warm, bright, sunny day. Started at Beat 5. Fishing very slow. River looked good but suspect bright sunny conditions didn't help. Only managed one chub. Moved to the house beat. Again very very slow. Just 2 more chub and that was it. Tried a variety of baits and locations but nothing seemed to work Disappointing day. Lots of salmon anglers all of whom were very friendly and chatty.

3 Chub

Lots of reports from visiting coarse and trout anglers of salmon showing throughout the beats. Visitors fishing the house rods for salmon drew blanks on Saturday but again reported seeing plenty of fish. These I think are resident fish which have been stuck in the pools for some time. More fresh water will help.
