Fantastic day. Fished blind but caught some lovely fish. Nice to meet Terry Ward who runs the beat, very pleasant. Saw plenty of salmon jumping also.

River was low and clear. Had a barbel from beat 4 at the end of island on pellet and paste, and a chub from best 5. Was tough going but had a great time!

News has been that the fishing had been hard and they were not wrong. On a cloudy day with the water clear I had one Chub of 4.5lb half way down Beat 4. Salmon were jumping and small fish showing on top. Tried a couple of other swims but no luck. Will return to try again in the spring.

Not easy, two barbel caught and a few chub, would have expected more as conditions seemed favourable. The barbel was 8lbs.

Terrible day, beautiful beat, well kept and in good condition, albeit with no fish seen.
Can't cast, can't figure out a sensible plan of attack, can't cast from a left bank, can't think why I put myself through this ongoing anguish. Must give up any ambitions towards salmon fishing before I waste yet more time and money.
Probably won't be back although don't let my inadequacies put you off.

Salmon showing in many of the pools. Coming back on Wednesday for another session. Beats 1, 2,& 6, Still untouched. Good luck for Wednesday.
