Sunnier day. River up slightly more from previous day's rain. Felt like great conditions. All fish on either halibut pellet or pellet and paste from beat 3, left bank, outer bend. Both beards around 7lbs. Smashed up on two more. A great weekend, camping at The Pound, foraging at The Boat Inn.
(Other was a minnow!)

Another beautiful day on the Wye, although conditions were tricky. Fish were very finicky and wanted a moving bait. 2 chub caught on rolling luncheon meat, and 1 barbel, about 5lb, caught on float fished sweetcorn. Last cast of the day served up a beautiful 9lb barbel, hooked on touch ledgered pellet. Many thanks to Fiona and James at the Agents House in Whitney for their hospitality.

On arrival to the river bank was greeted by the sight of 60-70 goosanders lifting of the water. River was at a perfect height for Whitney. I never saw a sign of any fish let alone salmon . so sad to see what's happened to this once great river.

Lovely condition chub, caught in beats 3, 5 and 6, all on the left bank. Bites dried up as the sun came out and the temperature rose. Fishing a cage feeder.

A 3 hour afternoon session. Fished 12mm pellets with crushed pellet feeder. River was rising, coloured and very fast following the rain showers at the end of last week and the weekend. Fished right bank beat 2 more or less opposite the pump house. first hour saw 2 Chub around 5lb, both with lice but still looked quite healthy and put up a good fight. Next two hours were very quiet indeed but the air display from the Sand Martins provided ample entertainment.

Three fabulous days fishing on beats 2,3 and 5. Lots of chub, and some really nice fish up to 4lb. Float fished corn, feeding hemp - almost a fish a cast. Triple hair rigged spicy pellets accounted for the bigger fish. Worked hard to find the Barbel which were very elusive. Opportunities did occur, but sadly not landed. Early mornings and dusk are still the time to catch, but to be fair Mark’s hospitality at the Rhydspence inn was too tempting to stay on the bank that late!
