Didn't catch any salmon. Saw one though moving through beat four. Earlier in the day fised beats 2 and 3. This is nice varied water but I was plagued by canoeists. One in a group of 8 capsized in front of me. Then they all spent 10 minutes messing about in the swim trying to sort out the capsized canoe. They then parked up in the next swim downstream (about 50yrds away) and spent the next 10 mins loudly messing about lobbing and skimming stones into the river. It looked like most of the canoeists were getting out at the pub which is halfway down the beat, so I moved downstream below the pub and it was much quieter. Shame really because the stretch upstream is lovely.
As i say, didn't manage to move any salmon but I did have 4 trout ... all under a pound but v pretty.
I also have a v sunburned head (only on one side ... natch!)

One good size salmon leaped. Trout rising for emerging mayflies, but catching them on the moment of escape therefore hard to imitate, as they are not carried downstream. Fast downstream swing presentation provoked a couple bites. Couple of daces on wet fly too.

Fished on my own today. Sunny in morning with cloud building in afternoon; a big contrast from Monday.
Fished beats 2, 3 and 6 again. Nothing seen.
Enjoyable trip to Wye. The first in 2023.

Salmon were present, 2 showed first thing in the morning by leaping clear of the water . Both in the same pool. One being of a good fish ,well into double figures . The other estimate around 8/10 pounds . Great to see the fish there but could not touch them . Conditions were perfect for a days salmon fishing over cast and raining and the river slowly rising throughout the day.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

My first time fishing Whitney Court
Light rain throughout the day. River level said to be good. No fish seen.
Fished beats 2, 3 and 6 as advised by excellent ghillie Nathan Jubb, being good for fly fishing
