Water crystal clear and cold wind. Excellent pools but fish reluctant to feed.

2 Barbel, 3 Chub

Very hard day with one pike to show for our efforts. Beautiful stretch with cracking beats.

1 Pike

Visiting guest angler D.Paige reported River now much clearer and trying all the likely spots on beats 5 and 6 fishing dead-bait sprat's sink and draw 4 small pike to 8 lb were netted and a few follow ins from bigger fish which turned away at the last minute.

River rising due to previous rain with some colour, 5 rods caught 2 Barbel and 4 Chub.

Superb cock fish landed by Vic M, on a small tube fly on low water double shrimp pattern. 10 Lb with all the seasonal trim. Full kype as is the norm now. Come on next spring .

1 Salmon

Fish were showing throughout the stretch, unfortunately though, none were takers on the day!

Low clear river east wind. 4 anglers: two caught chub other two fished for barbel which did not show. beautiful scenery but the otter we watched fishing I am sure caught more than us. The river on this stretch seems devoid of small fish. No good for the dace angler.

21 Chub

4 rods fished all day and did not catch a fish between us, or even have a bite.

Very cold conditions did not bode well and this turned out to be a very tough day. One angler took a chub trotting double maggot on his second cast and one angler took a 5lb barbel after 2 hours on a pellet. Other than that it was a very quiet day.

Good day on river with 3 fish, Martyn Lewis 2 salmon, first on beat 4 around 18lb (37") and the second from beat 3 at 9lb. I had a fish of around 10lb on beat 2. All on small shrimp patterns. Fish seen on all beats. Thanks to Terry for the advice.
