I had a lovely days fishing at Whitney court yesterday. My first time there and I was really well looked after by Terry Ward, a really nice chap who took the time to show me the six beats and give me the benefit of his knowledge of the fish holding areas and wading routes, thank you Terry.

A lovely stretch of the river with easy access but no fish on this occasion. Fished several spots with feeder and pellet.

The sudden change in the weather did not bring the fish on I'm afraid.

40 Trout, 7 Grayling

Feeder and halibut pellet in the faster water for the barbel. Nice beat in attractive setting.

6 Barbel, 2 Chub

1 Trout, 4 Barbel

Visiting angler Dr Bradshaw landed a fish 90cm long after an epic fight fishing a tiny Willie Gunn on a split cane rod and ancient Farlows reel which played up. 7.30 pm. Well done!

1 Salmon

Lovely beat and enjoyed the fishing even though we were baked in the 25 degree heat. Saw 6 salmon but didn't connect with any of them! Will book again another day.

All caught on float using 8mm carp pellets. I think its called watercraft..great location.

Conditions good. Used upstream nymph - heavily weighted ones best. Pheasant tail most effective.

The river was very low and over the three days was rising and falling by about 18inches. All fish were caught using pellets.
