Fantastic stretch of the Usk with easy access. Although I saw a fair number of fish and plenty of fly life I didn't manage to connect with any, probably due in part to the bright sunshine but mostly my lack of skill. I imagine if I had been able to stay later ( I left at 4pm) then it may have been a different story.

Super low water, super summer weather, super beat and 3 trout to a great 16 inches. Hard but enjoyable yards. Made even better by a delightful plague of fishing kingfishers. Morning only fished. Many thanks.

Returned to this beat which I fished yesterday. Late afternoon and evening - a rise at about 20.00 hours but couldn't connect. Nil catch.

Such a beautiful day on this perfect stretch of water. Clear blue skies, slightly low water, but easy to fish and a cool refreshing breeze. Sadly unable to stay for the evening but even so there were a few trout rising through midday and the afternoon. Unusual for August. Three nice 10 in brown trout to an para Adams.

First ever river fly fishing trip. Fished from 5pm until darkness. Overcast with downstream wind made fishing difficult. No luck fishing upstream of the beat entrance but a few fish rising. The river came alive 20mins before dark with fish leaping and rising all over- one bite was missed and two fish (one of good size) came off the hook, frustrating but a really exciting end to the day. River looked healthy with a mix of shallow and deeper areas. Lots of wildlife about. All bites were on a hairs ear.
Thanks to Wye and Usk foundation for there help in recommending this beat for a beginner, nice and easy wading. I'd also recommend the fishing tackle shop in Brecon (fishtec) went in to buy line and got given some free flies to try.
There was a trout hanging around the start of the beat with what looked like a pretty bad fungal infection on its head and gills.

Arrived late in the afternoon hoping for an evening's fishing. Sadly, the river was rather full and brown. I assume from the previous day's rain. Nil catch
