Only had couple of hours fishing on this stunning beat. Caught a couple of trout. Fished the hotspots with flying c. A Salmon showed off the wayward willow lie enjoyed spinning the Llangoed pool & the rapids below. Couple of fish showing in the Llangoed pool. Will defo fish this beat again hopefully for the day with the fly rod.

River running reasonably clear, 12" brown caught and returned using a large yellow bodied mayfly dry fly in the late afternoon although little surface activity seen all afternoon and into the early evening.

Clean 17 1/5lb hen fish from above the orchard on an Usk Grub

13lb and 9lb from the Orchard in the morning on Usk Grub and cascade.

A lovely beat, but probably one better suited for salmon than trout, we decided to fish the pocket water down by the rapids, which was excellent sport. 3 nice trout (largest about 1.5lb) all to snipe and purple spiders.

Firstly many thanks to all who made the fishing available its a fantastic spot and even gave up a Salmon to me today and has done in the past.We had a bright sunny day but enjoyed the top end under the trees then went down to the Llangoed pool and gutters which at 1ft4" was getting a bit low for fly fishing though a good trout took a h
