Not for the want of trying or indeed enjoying ...

SW 50 mph gusting storm stopped all hope of play. A blank return, literally and metaphorically.

Same as yesterday really - hard yards. Brief olive hatch at lunchtime, that followed a hail storm (!), induced frantic spring fever action. 3 to 12 inches, with a good number of muddles and refusals.

Freezing, river incredibly low. Brief olive hatch at 1300. 1 trout to 12 inches. Hard yards but good.

2 small brownies and a dunking! Water is still very cold !

A long time coming but worth the wait. 5 hours working up the beat seeing fish here and there but no takers.
On the point of leaving when I spotted a few rises above the bridge. One very nice 2lb trout on a dry fly.

Water v low and clear, bright skies, easterly breeze, no hatch at all. We saw two fish all day, caught one. We loved the beat though and already plotting a return when conditions are a little easier.
