Good day, lovely stretch of the river

Hot, sunny, upstream easterly and 0.26m on the Trallong guage = low and clear. Not many upwings today - was hoping to hit an Olive Upright hatch but it didn't happen. Nothing bigger than 14" / 1.5lb - these Penpont fish are chubby for sure. Large Brook Dun emerger, small black F Fly and KH, and HvK's Blackhamer caught the fish. Hard!

It was a beautiful day on an amazing stretch of river. The fishing was challenging due to the brightness but we found some trout. Most were caught on nymphs with a couple taking dries. A few large fish were spotted and spooked in very thin water. A fair amount of fly life - hawthorns, upwings and large sedge but not many rising fish.

Great mixed hatches from late morning to late afternoon. Rising fish all pretty small, though.

Overnight rain and cold breeze made fishing very difficult. Caught 2 on nymphs which included one fish of 2.5llb
