First time fishing this beat so was unfmiliar with the stretch.
The moring was very windy and I was fishing the lower section using a Tenkara rod which in hindsight was not the most appropriate method for the conditions.
In the afternoon I fished the upper section for around 3 hours using nymphs catching 4 and losing 2 (one being of a decent size). The largest fish caught was around 11" and the others were between 5-7".

I have fished this beat a dozen or so times in the last ten years. I hardly ever catch but keep coming back.I only covered a fraction today. A dodgy leg prevented waders and much clambering so I just fished what I could from the bank and exposed river bed. About 6 small trout, none larger that 12 cm, lovely Usk colours. All caught on various, tiny dry patterns in the foam line of the various pool tails. Saw dippers, wagtails, kites, swifts and a squirrel the size of a cat. Im sure I heard an otter squealing.

Overcast day saw some rises. Caught both on emergers. First was a fairly small. Second was well sized and very strong.
Great fishing in such a beautiful part of the world. Both released.

Not much happening on this day. The water was fairly low and very spooky fish. Nice hatch in the evening saw a few rises but no takes.

Hard day, strong downstream winds and rain made fishing particularly tricky. Very little rising, despite incredible mixed hatches. Took a couple of fish on a mayfly, the rest on the duo nymph. Lost a monster in one of the runs below the waterfall.

Water v.low and clear. Cloud lifted mid morning and gave way to bright sunshine. Very few fish seen rising.
Got one fish to rise twice to a Parachute Olive but remained it unconvinced! Picturesque but very difficult beat.

Fishing on an evening ticket I started from the bottom of the beat. This was my first visit to this beat and first time on the Usk in probably six years. The weather was increasingly bad with heavy rain and blustery winds. Regardless of the conditions there were a lot of flies coming off (BWO, Large Olive, etc) plus some spinners. A few steadily rising fish were found and I had takes on small grey wolf and CDC&Elk. Missed or lost every one. Blank.
