The wind had verred to a southerly, and the water was a good level & very clear. Fished from 2.45 and saw nothing until about 7pm. Then hooked two and caught one of about 2lbs, all on a nymph near the tail of broken water runs.

Lovely 4 hours on river, saw 2 otters, and caught 3 trout to 2lb on copperhead nymph. Plenty of water in river, sunny with little wind.

Fished the bottom half of the beat from 5.30pm to 8pm. River had fallen about a foot
Saw no rises, but the the otter that swam within a rod’s length of me may have had something to do with that. Fished a black Klinkhammer with a gold head hare’s ear under it through the faster water, but no contact with with any fish

Still a beautiful evening and pleasant end to the day

Fished from 5pm to 7.30pm the bottom half of the beat. The river was high. Saw no rises, an only the occasional BWO or sedge. However I did have one take on my soft hackle dry fly. Felt like a good fish, but we were not connected for long and the fish threw my barbless hook.

12 inch trout taken on a nymph. Lost another. Couple of rises to a dry early evening. Very little surface activity from fish overall. Windy but better water conditions than earlier in the week. Mergansers and a cormorant.

Blank. Only suggestion of fish was a pair of mergansers. Didnt see anything break the surface all day or evening. Conditions not great. Water very discoloured and seemed quite high.

Beautiful day but no fish. A few occasional rises but no take.

Blanked. My excuse is that it was an extremely hot day and I left before the evening rise. Had one rise to cast to in a very difficult position. Fluffed it completely.

Good day on the beat, glad to be back fishing after the lockdown and what a great beat to start on.

3 Trout

River clear and lower than I thought it might have been given the rain yesterday. Fish to 15" in likely places on nymphs. There was a good afternoon hatch of sedge and I actually hooked two caddis larvae during the course of the day, so there must have been a lot of them down there... not much rising but I didn't stay until evening.
