2 rods fishing as usual. There is plenty of fish holding water on this beat! The day started cold with showers but ended up as a lovely evening. A few brook duns, large olives and olive uprights were hatching sporadically and as usual for us with Usk fish they dont come to a dry unless they are actually taking the natural. So fishing was patchy and a case of keeping moving to find the hatch and rising fish. 6 hooked but only 3 brought to hand - 6 and 8 inches plus a 17 inch clonker! Two of the fish lost were at least that big.....
A super days fishing in lovely surroundings.

Low water and a cool downstream wind made for difficult fishing conditions. Long leader contact nymphing in the morning caught me five good fish 18”,17”, 15”, 2 x 14”on size 14 jig 3mm black tungsten bead March brown nymph and peeping caddis. The afternoon was spent stalking large trout taking Brook Dunn’s with only one positive take that I missed.

River clear and seemingly a good height having fallen from yesterday's high, but challenging fishing. Something of a reality check after a good start to the season on other waters! A lot of fly life and some rising fish in the afternoon - I had three takes (two of a dry and one nymph) but none was ever really hooked. Beautiful stretch of the Usk - and the Senni looked promising but even that couldn't save me from a blank!

Just after the bad weather day the water cleared up throughout the day and thought that fishing would be fine... maybe it was the fisherman. tried various nymphs and streamers with no luck.
