Very hot day. Beautiful beat with varied and challenging water. A steady stream of swimmers and sunbathers through the day (due to the close proximity of the village and public footpath) were a distraction. In the evening a large party of teenagers descended and made a lot of noise, splashing shouting and swearing and were generally a bit irritating.
Two canoeists were informed politely of the agreement and they did take their canoes out at the bridge.
This is lovely lovely water, especially at summer flow levels. I would not fish it again in hot weather for the reasons above.

I love this beat. It is very beautiful, with fabulous pools and trenches for salmon to hide in. A pity then there are next to no fish, not even trout. Even taking my ineptness into account, when wading, you would disturb fish if they were there. I did not. I have caught poachers before now, and there was evidence of them again - empty beer bottles, rubbish etc. Then there were bathers! Yes, 24 people I counted, swimming, sun bathing and even one group going up the river in a rubber duck dingy.

Great piece of river with interesting rocks and pools to add variety. Unfortunately I was unable to tempt anything to come out into the bright sunshine.

Hot, bright day. River at a nice height, perhaps a touch low, but certainly starting to warm up. We fished 3 hours mid to late afternoon. 3 trout from half to one and a half pounds on weighted nymphs. Very little surface activity with just the occasional rising fish to cast to. A nice beat. Lovely to be there.

Each fisher caught two small brown trout (6-8 inches) and all fish were successfully released. The weather was showery rain and the river rose and coloured for a while before falling slightly at the end of the afternoon. Some sedge were seen, but there was no organised hatch of fly. Accordingly, very few fish moved. Wet and dry fly were used but the catches were on small wet flies of traditional patterns such as Greenwells and Black Spider. Difficult day but we enjoyed the varying fishing the beat offers.

Difficult day, 10C on the bank with a 20mph north wind and its June! Heavy rain showers all day, When the sun did come out the temperature shot up. Hatches of Mayfly and Olive, brave things. Two trout, about 1lb, hooked on a brown brass head nymph. My friend, who was fishing for salmon, had no luck and we saw no sign of salmon either. This is a very beautiful beat and we hope to fish it with the benefit of better weather another day.

No dry fly fishing in spite of masses of fly life. I am not very good at spotting takes with nymphs let alone trying to constantly mend line at the same time which is what was required on this technically demanding beat. In spite of that pleased with the one fish... an absolute beauty and enjoyed fishing a super beat. Would I do it all again ... of course. Great that the WUF make these beats available.

One very nice trout caught right at the bottom of this very beautiful and very interesting beat. Surprisingly few rising fish on the flats (or elsewhere) possibly in part related to three youths swimming and one throwing stones into the river throughout the afternoon.

Arrived a little late to take full advantage of a prolific morning hatch. Afternoon became very bright and sunny and the fishing difficult. A lovely scenic beat though. No fish caught.

A warm overcast morning produced a steady hatch of olives, sedge, sulphur duns and the odd mayfly. The fish seemed to be targeting the sulphur duns so a Tups dry did the trick, two 10" fish came to net and a lot of other takes were missed.
