Very enjoyable day with intermittent hatch and low water.
All the fish came from the downstream end of the beat mainly taken on dries, one advantage of low water levels was that it was easy to cross over and fish the bottom of the beat down to the remains if the footbridge.

River very low , sporadic hatches with a few rising trout , all trout caught 1/2 lb on dries .
Opposite bank two angles fishing where they was on the wrong beat . I did ask 1 angler to clarify if he knew he was on the wrong beat where they should have been further up . I asked him to check his map from FP , he was very rude and suggested I was challenging him about where he should be fishing. I’ll follow this up with FP to clarify .
Easy access to the beat , plenty of wildlife.
Probably some bigger trout lurking around on the beat somewhere , but we didn’t come across any.

Our report for today is largely the same as the previous day except that there were no clouds at all and the breeze dropped a little making it even harder to catch fish. We blanked today. but promised ourselves a return visit when conditions might be more favourable and we would be able to stay for the evening rise.

What a beautiful location to visit. The river was low and clear with bright sunshine and a strong breeze. While we saw plenty of rising fish, they were not consistent and proved hard to tempt. There was abundant fly life with stonefly and mayfly hatching plus a host of other flies through the day though the trout didn't seem to be showing a preference for the mayfly. They also rarely took flies from the surface, preferring to take nymphs just below the surface. We managed two trout to a dry hare's ear and large dark olive. We consoled ourselves with the beautiful scenery and fantastic birdlife along the river. We saw herons, white egrets, sand martens, dunlin, kingfishers, three types of wagtails, dipper, cuckoo and a pair of buzzard. There were many other small birds in the woodland that we heard singing their hearts out but failed to identify.

Another brilliant evening rise, with fish rising everywhere from 7.30 to 9.30. Jingler (14) seemed to work best, both in back eddies and stronger streams. Three fish around 16 inches, one of 19 inches (3lbs) and a 'clonker' of 21 inches (3.5lbs)

After a heavy shower, an excellent evening hatch and rise, 7.30 to 9.30, which I matched fairly well using an Usk Jingler (14) - emerger pattern? Three fish of about 16 inches, and one of 19 inches (2.5+ lbs), the rest mostly around a pound.
