Gin clear water made it good fun sight fishing to some lumpy fish downstream of the bridge. a few olives coming off but not a huge hatch. I had 3 from 12 to 14" which all took dries, they torn line off when hooked in thin water.
It was very heartening to see a good pod of Grilse swim past and one bar of silver leapt just in front of me "wow" the the sun caught his silver flanks.

First time on this beat. Initially I went to the"island" parking but the river was wide, slow moving and a little coloured. Nothing moving after 20 mins so drove up to the topmost parking spot where there was a nice stretch of a couple of hundred meters of steamy water.
Loads of fly life but nothing rising. I tried dries, emergers, spiders, nymphs. There was one quick pull on a red nymph with a 3mm tungsten bead fished down and across the quicker part but otherwise nothing.
Above this section was a very long flat which I covered up to the pumping station. Nothing rising bar one very small fish in the margins (shin deep) that scarpered as soon as I put a fly near it.

It might be worth updating the map slightly with the footpaths. I crossed to the right bank before the flats as it was easier to cast but couldn't wade past the pumping station or wade back across to the left bank. I thought there was a footpath so got out but was informed by a house owner that it was all private so I promptly jumped back in and went back to the parking area where I could cross back over.

Great beat. Only fished the upper part of the beat, water was gin clear and looking really good. Plenty of insect life but sadly nothing I tried took the trouts fancy. I did have a take on a Spring Olive nymph in the fast water just above the pumping station but he shook off pretty quickly.
Despite one of the previous anglers saying the access was tricky, I found it ok. The access is fine but caution is advised as some of the bank access can be a little steep but doable if done slowly. Wading I think is better than other beats I have fished on the Usk.
I will definitely return and can see this becoming a regular beat for me.
I managed to speak to a local angler who informed me that some of the deeper runs just below the bridge is certainly worth a cast or two
