Thanks to Tony the river keeper, we avoided the very long walk to the river. He was good enough to come down the track as he saw us arriving and lead us along another track, right to the river's edge. After a promising start on the pylon swims where we caught 8 Barbel and lots of Chub the river died on us as lunchtime approached.
Pellets the best bait, then a few more on the meat.

19 barbel and several chub, taken on a mixture of pellets, meat and boilies. Conditions quite challenging and fish very localised as usual, but a good day's sport nonetheless.

A difficult day for the two of us. One barbel each and six small chub. River level seemed fine about 4ft up. Water felt unusually cold for mid July. Will try again when things warm up! Thanks

Conditions worse than yesterday stuck it out for a few hours to no avail more like Winter than Summer.

River very high and pacey. Could only fish middle section in the edge, not enjoyable, 1 barbel 1 chub.

My prefered part of the beat at the bottom end was flooded so I fished the last swim on the high bank. I had 8 barbel to 9lb, all caught on halibut pellet and soft spicy sausage soft pellets. The river turned a chocolate colour at 5 o clock and then rose 10ft in the next 12 hours.

A very late booking due to heavy rain. The stretch we had booked we elected not to fish. Visited Holme Lacy and found no-one on the beat. Rang the WUF and after they spoke with Colin the Ghillie we were able to fish from about 1pm.
River high, coloured and pushing through. Needed a lot of lead to hold bottom, but by fishing the bottom of the beat we managed 6 barbel and 2 chub to one rod and 8 barbel to the other. The biggest about 9lbs - all the fish were in excellent condition although a couple were a bit lean and obviously recovering from spawning. All caught using heavy feeders and pellet.
Despite the poor conditions and the inclement weather a productive day.

River was about 4 feet up over summer level and heavily coloured. We fished off the bottom end of the island and had a fantastic days fishing. The fish fed all day and we ended with a total of 31 Barbel and 10 chub, best fish was 7 1/2 pounds.

First time on the Wye and our feeders were not big enough. Still had a nice day with 8 barbel to 8lb 2 chub and an eel. Bailiff was a great help. Long walk to the best swim but worth it.
