First ever visit to this stretch and was very impressed with not only the fishing but how well kept the stretch is! Fished the bottom end and caught all my fish on trotted hemp and corn and will certainly be back again!

Fished the bend in the river where the far bank is tree lined and caught a chub almost every cast. I couldn't find any Barbel though. Packed up early as it was blowing a gale with occasional thunder and lightning. 7 days earlier I'd had a great day trotting the far bank in the end swim although its not easy netting and unhooking the barbel so far out in the river, a medium sized folding game net helped.

The river had risen about a foot and was in nice condition with a bit of color. Spent a bit of time with Colin, who not only put me in the right swim but is also an expert at pulling swim feeders out of snags! Thanks.
Plenty of fish under the far bank, chub were coming in the ratio of four chub to one barbel. However with chub up to around five pounds, it was hardly disappointing.
All the fish were taken of pellet and feeder.

Afternoon visit to this well kept fishery. Colin directed me to a going swim and caught from start to feeder and small pellet. Barbel up to 7lb, and chub to 4lb. Bites seemed to dry up in evening despite the river level being up from last few days.

Second day on this stretch. Barbel in the same place on the last stretch. Lost nine as they were not feeding as confidently as usual. Good quality chub up to five pounds in excellent condition. Caught on meat, pellet feeder, cheese and sweet corn.

Great to be back on this extremely well kept stretch of the Wye. Thanks for all the hard work Colin.
Barbel harder to find than usual. Finally located them at the bottom end. River low and coloured, successful bait was meat and pellet feeder.

Our first time on the Wye, so we wasted a fair bit of time fishing swims that looked fishy but weren't. Eventually we found where the fish were and were happy with the results. River was lowish but with a little colour - downstream wind a bit of a nuisance. Barbel came to meat or pellet (around 7 lb each). Lovely spot and will certainly try this stretch again.

River low and swims changed a lot since last year with the floods.
Barbel hard to temp with all the usual offerings had to wait till the evening to get a few although they were jumping out of the water all day! My son had 35 Chub on the float to 5lb on hemp and sweetcorn in 2 hrs before the sun and arm ache got the better of him. Feeder tactics gave him 5 more Chub and 1 Barbel.
I stuck to the feeder mostly 16 Chub and 4 Barbel being my reward.
My 60th season angling and a fabulous day spent with my son on the beautiful river Wye. All the bird life and catching fish is a bonus.
Thanks Wye and Usk Foundation and to the baliff Colin for keeping the swims so beautifully mown and strimmed. Good to see Colin and catch up on the changes to the beats swims and best approach to find the fish.
