A first visit and indeed a very scenic beat. The chocolate brown river didn't quite compliment the setting though. Two shad hooked and lost - spirited fighters aren't they. One possibly two salmon seen leaping but failed to trouble the score cards sadly. Will I return...that I'm very sure of but timed slightly better! Thank you regardless to you all the same.

Water still coloured but dropping after Friday’s storm. Should be excellent Tues when most of us are back at work!
Had to go up to a #4 double on the tube fly and a 1/0 Aberdeen on the FC to prevent the Shad hooking up; didn’t stop the blighters bumping the lures all day though. No Salmon hooked but had a good hard tug late in the evening at the Hut.
One day I’ll fish this beat in better conditions. Oh, and the canoes were polite if heavy; had to wade like a loon at one point to avoid being flattened by one bearing down on me sideways. Such japes eh?

Didn't fish this morning, massive storm last night, I have never seen a river colour up so quickly, I'm surprised there's any soil left in Herefordshire, this silt seems to be getting a lot worse on the river Wye.

A last minute booking and arrived at noon to a rising dirty river. First visit to this beat and pleasantly surprise with the variety of water. Not good for the fly today but gave it a go anyway, [time spent in reconnaissance is seldom wasted], and enjoyed groping my way down the section below the footbridge but didn't push my luck in the last pool, wading stick or not! Nothing on spinners either but I think I’ll try again another day when conditions are more favourable.

My first booking on this lovely stretch. Four or five fish showing at hut but dropping river did n't encourage them to chase a fly. A few chub to fly at bottom of beat. One fish came for fly just below surface but I think it was good trout.

Weather hot and sunny. Fished the whole length of the beat. No fish seen. Several walkers with dogs, in the river, below the suspension bridge.

Only arrived at Caradoc at 1 o'clock by 4 had a 13lbs springer, a little colour probably been in the river for a week, did see fish running, they seem to be going straight up to higher reaches with good water levels, this is my 5th springer of the Wye in 3 weeks, happy? oh yes!

Drove to the Wye through the snow! Fortunately the weather cleared and we had a sunny but cold day (3-9'C). Gauge at 2'9" which is on the high side for this beat, we were told by the owner. Water slightly coloured but not too problematic. We had 2 offers on the fly (sunk lines) and none on a spinner. Thoroughly enjoyed fishing this beat and we shall certainly give it another go!
