Looked good but fish not feeding as expected. Managed 13 Barbel between us up to 9lbs 4ozs all on elipse. Very high banks to the water so needed dog spikes for safety.

The bank was very muddy and slippery and I was unable to get to the swims I had fished previously. Just one barbel, but a very nice fish. It looked 9-10 lbs to me, and I was surprised when the scales only registered 5lbs 11oz. The the frustrating thought came to me later - could it be the scales went round twice and it was really 11lbs 11oz? I'll be more careful weighing next time!

Overnight rain meant that the river was slightly rising at around 5ft. Arrived a little later than yesterday, and with another angler fishing upstream of the hut, we decided to go back to yesterdays first port of call in the trees before the bridge. We started fishing around 10.30am, with baits back on the same spots as yesterday it wasnt long till we were into the first barbel. and they carried on coming all day! We started packing up at around 7.30pm, having caught 23 barbel with two lost to just under 8lbs. A fantastic days fishing. Thank you Wye and Usk! All fish caught on pellets, paste and boilie again.

First visit to the Wye. Was due to fish with my father who unfortunately could not come, so decided to make a weekend trip with my girlfriend. We were due to fish Holme Lacey on the Friday but she couldnt get the time off so started our trip on Caradoc first thing Saturday morning. We arrived to find the river around 4 to 5 ft up and very coloured. Due to the recent wet weather the track looked impassable so a long walk was on the cards. Decided to use the day as a bit of a recce as we were booked on again on the Sunday. Walked down stream and settled on a swim in the trees before the bridge that was large enough for the two of us. The swim produced 4 barbel to 7lbs in the pouring rain. The swim then went quiet, so we moved back upstream of the hut to another large swim where we settled in for the afternoon. By now the earlier rain had turned the water a brick red colour and i wasnt too confident of more action. I was wrong and we finished the day with another 8 barbel from the new swim to 7lb 6oz. All fish in good condition and caught on pellet and boilie baits on the feeder and straight lead.

4 barbel. River running high, fast and nicely coloured.
120gm feeder (but it still swung round to the inside) with 8mm pellets or elips on the hook. Fished from the second croy and found it better to sit and wait for bites, I only fished from mid-day to 5pm so probably not too bad. Well I enjoyed it anyway.

River up about 35cm from our previous day on Sugwas which was no surprise after the heavy rain over night. Having not fished this beat before it took a little while to settle and two rods had 2 Barbel each on pellet feeder using a mixture of hook baits.
Will be back again in the future and hopefully then it will be dry enough to take the car up the track.
