Wet fly fishing. Overcast with brief spells of sunlight. River clear and in good condition. One fish hooked but lost immediately. No sign of fish rising.

Cloudy all day with rain mid morning. Good bit of colour to the river. Tricky access, and too deep to wade in places. No signs of any fish rising all day. Tried dry but switched to nymph and caught two Grayling around mid day. Went quiet after that for the rest of the day. A slightly frustrating day.

2 Grayling

None caught, none seen. Interestingly very little fly insect other than boatmen and almost no water birds.

Two of us fished, didn't see a fish all day let alone catch one. Location, magnificent.

Caught at top of beat on olive dun taken from surface. 5pm. 8 inch fish, released.

1 Trout

A very hot day, plenty of fly life on the water but little activity. Saw a couple of nice browns cruising but nothing else. First time we have fished this beat and I must say the access to the water was very challenging and banks were overgrown and full fields of crops did not help. Some nice pools but difficult to fish and too deep in places for waders.

No catch. Weather bright and hot, water low and clear. Klinkhammer flies.

Very quiet, no sign of a fish the whole time I was there. Bursting with insect life, Kingfishers and flowering plants, surprised not to see a trout rise. Deeper than I expected in places, very pretty beat.

This is a very tranquil setting, worth the trip just for the peace and quiet and the wildlife, including a kingfisher and a heron. Despite a regular trickle of hatching insects there was very little sign of fish moving and nothing caught.
