Gauge just right at 1.2m at Monmouth, accessible fly water fishing runs for the ford, rope and parsons stream all good provided care taken with a wading staff. Other water covered with spinning gear, to no avail with no fish seen. But worth remembering what can feel at times like cosplay from a different time has the potential with the next cast on the Wye to result in a once in a lifetime fish. That with the surroundings, comradeship and joy of the cast is what we're here for - Wonderful!

Beat:Middle Hill Court

Fishing:Salmon

No. of Anglers:2

River in fine fettle, clear, a little too high at 1.5m at Monmouth to make the most of the fly water on the beat though. Otherwise a great day in the shadow of Goodrich castle a few trout on the fly got things going for the new season nothing to the spinning rods. No Salmon seen or touched, we'll be back being March there's time yet to make the most of the spring season!

Area:Lower Wye

Beat:Middle Hill Court

Fishing:Coarse

No. of Anglers:5

Not a very productive day and unfortunately the rising river diminished our opportunities after the river had been at a good level recently. Only 2 of us fished and a couple of Chub and a welcome Grayling saved what was a pretty slow day on this productive beat.

River fairly steady but moving quickly with a lot of debris coming downstream, making it difficult to hold bottom with feeders being frequently dragged out of position.
