Got there around, 6am, nice little beat with easy parking.
It is a long stretch so you can decide where to fish hot different pools too from slow flow to rapids and shallow to deep.
Started with the feeder on the morning, barbel didn’t show so decided to move up on the river and switched method too for a float. Caught at least a 120 chubs and different silvers. Then changed pegs again and went down a couple of hundred meters to the rapids around 12ish.
Fished there till 5pm caught some very nice chubs up to 6lb mark then decided to move back to the first peg (where we started)
Not much activity till 7pm when the barbel started biting. Managed to get a few to the bank till 8pm and lost a couple of big ones too.. biggest was around 10lb mark. Left at 8:30
Lovely day out and it was very relaxing too.

Fished from 6-10, started getting bites at 7pm and had an hour of hectic action from the chub with the odd barbel in between. Barbel to around 8lb and some cracking chub to 4.5 lb. most on halibut pellets and Krill boilies.

Despite the undoubtedly beautiful setting , for someone like myself who's legs are 'shot' this is not an easy beat to find a comfortable place to set up.The banks are relatively steep straight into the river , so your tackle was inclined to slip south or fall over. The best spots were at the top of the beat either side of the diesel water extraction unit...personally I would rather listen to the bird song. Next time I shall come armed with shovel, chainsaw & ear defenders.
Having said that we did catch one or two well conditioned chub on trotted spam . We should have done better but spent a lot of time 'sussing' the beat out which you need to do on every new venue.
We are lucky to have so much choice; Thanks WUF.

Conditions were favourable, decent flow and some colour to the river, overhead cloud, shame about the rain!!!. Not exactly prolific but we had a few fish and no one blanked. Two powerful runs, clutch screaming, Barbel! Nope, a fine
Chub, although I didn't weigh it, steep slippery bank by this time, a confidant five and a half but nudging six in my opinion,
21" nose to tail(The width of my unhooking mat) with an impressive girth to match, not a gnarly old warrior either, a splendid looking fish, good luck to anyone who banks him come Sept./Oct. !. Chub to bread flake and meat and unusual
but by no means unheard of, the Barbel to bread.A few Chublets, there are plenty of them in the river at the moment, one
good sign for the rivers future at least, and as one member of our party commented, considering the size of the hook bait,
you have to admire their ambition!!.

First time back on this lovely stretch for 5 years , it’s changed a bit naturally. I had a nostalgic walk up to the vanstone tree peg as my dad sat there and watched me fish there back in 2012 when it was part of the beat... not with us anymore god bless him.
To the fishing.. river pushing through with lots of blanket weed but that is a couple of the challenges that you have to combat fishing this river ... 1 eel, 4 chub and 7 pristine barbel topped with a 9lb 4oz .. 1 of my favorite beats this regardless of the conditions.. I’ll be back!
