After a slow start the fish switched on from early afternoon until we packed up at 19:30. The best barbel was 8.12 with chub to 3.8 and all the fish were caught on feeder with different combinations of pellet. I will remember this day for the 3 otters that briefly turned up in my swim before heading back downstream having checked me out.

River fished well throughout the day. Best barbel was 9.13 and the chub were to 4.14. All fish were caught on feeder using various pellet combinations. A heavy rain shower at lunch time made the banks very slippery so we were glad we'd both brought along a rope and spike which allowed safe access into the swims - an essential piece of kit for fishing some parts of the Wye.

We were disappointed to find that the top swim bottom of the salmon pool we could not fish as the peg/board/stop has been moved down a swim from last year and decided that as a result of this decision we will not be coming back to this beat (Middle Hill Court) again.

River in nice condition, recent rain gave good colour and flow. Access to most swims precarious because of steep banks and no steps cut, especially after rain made the bankside muddy. Excellent fishing conditions - 14 barbel to double figures plus 6 chub to 5lb taken on inline feeders with a mix of bait.

Torrential rain the night before rendered the river up and chocolate but absolutely bursting with life and perfect for Barbel. Used standard feeder tactics with pellets and boilies. Day started slowly on the tail of the Vanstone pool but came alive late afternoon after changing swims. Barbel from 6½lb to 8½lb and a ½lb and fought like tigers. More salmon jumping all over the beat than we have ever seen before. All the wildlife both in and by the river treated us to breathtaking entertainment all day and at dusk. 7 Cormorants seen, all flying downstream. Thank you Wye and Usk for an exceptional day.

Very nice beat with a few cleared swims and a lot of natural swims which I like. Started off trotting the shallows and caught chub and some lovely dace. PS stayed upstream and had a nice chub of 4lb. We then moved to the top of the beat and settled down for some barbel of which I had 3 to 9lb and PS caught his first Wye barbel of 9.10lb which was a cracking fish for his first !!.
Thanks Wye and Usk for a cracking day.

Fished the bottom stretch up until lunchtime as we thought the beat ended at the gate. Managed to double up on a peg as there were only a couple of fishable swims. One of those had a wasps nest on it. One barbel of 8lb 4oz caught from the bottom stretch. Moved up to the top stretch after speaking with someone and caught 2 more barbel to 7lb 7oz and realised we should have started that end. I think it would be helpful to advise people to park next to the blue container. River was nicely coloured and conditions were good, would like to have another crack some time.
