Great days fishing. Fish fed consistently throughout the day. All fish were taken on the standard feeder/pellet rig. Best barbel was 8lbs 13ozs and a number of the chub were in the 3-4lb range. The river level had dropped slightly from the previous day and the amount of weed in the flow had reduced. Great to see the numbers of kingfishers in such peaceful surroundings.

Arrived at the beat at 8ish. There were only 2 of us as 1 called off. Me and the father outlaw decided to go to the top of the beat to start off. I had my 1st barbel about 9am on crab pellet and it just got better and better. I decided to try cheese paste on my old mark 1v split cane rod and was soon rewarded with an 8lb barbell, which was great on the old rod. David missed a few bites and lost others to snags. I'd had 7 when David went to pick his wife up who said that as we'd got a spare rod she'd have a go. Whilst he had gone I went really far downstream and hit a great spell. At 1 point I had 6 barbel in an hour - really wild fishing in amongst the bushes and nettles. When they came back at 4:30 they went back to the top of the beat and I joined them to help Liz out. She didn't need it and soon had her 1st ever barbel of about 7lb. David also got 1 about the same weight. Liz then got a roach - she was well chuffed.
It's a great stretch with kingfishers fishing in front of us and well kept. Canoeists were very polite today and even told their party to keep the noise down for us. The river was up from last time we came. I also had 2 eels of 3lb+. Can't wait to come back, thanks WUF.

River seemed to be in perfect order, managed 4 small barbel 5 small chub. All caught rolling meat through gaps in streamer weed. Only downside of the trip were again a few brainless canoeists who seemed to think they owned the river and could do what they like !
Apart from this as always I can't wait to get back on my favourite river again!

A lovely fishery, not so far to walk from the car either.
Adequate number of fishable swims which has not always been the case with some W&U venues.

Lovely, fantastic beat. Tough conditions but managed a good few fish from the upper end of the beat. All in great condition, fell to pellet and feeder tactics towards the evening
