A reasonable day of weather sandwiched between the rain of Thursday and the high winds of Saturday. But the fish hadn't read the script and kept their heads down all day. That is apart from one hungry chub who couldn't resist a juicy bundle of maggots on a hair rig.

Tough day probably due to the drop in temperature. Tried different areas, tactics etc. Eventually had a 8lb 12oz barbel 5 mins before I was going to leave! Saved the blank. Beautiful place to spend a day too.

We had been looking forward to this day as it was our first day on a Fishing Passport beat. Sadly we picked a day of a hurricane and the wind blew gale force all day straight down river. We stuck at it because we were there but really we were wasting our time. It hasn't put us off we will be back to try again another day.

River looked good and so did the weather, fishing was a little harder today had to search out the bites as the usual areas seemed barren. Feeder fished pellet or corn got the bites, river rose fast in the afternoon and flooded me out of my swim! Still a great day on the wye shared with a great guy who faired better than me up the other end, good to meet you. Thanks w.u.f

All fished the float and all had a great morning but the river began to rise very rapidly from 2:00pm and we struggled in the afternoon. A fabulous stretch with decent access for the float fisherman. Many Thanks

My first visit to this beat. A short session 14.30 to 18.30, having taken some time to walk much of the bank. Started in deep water near the top of the beat, but after more than two hours had only a small chub and a large eel to show for my efforts (the eel, unusually, was lip hooked and managed to release itself in the net. It must have been well over 2lbs, but I was pleased to see it go!) I then moved to some faster water and had one barbel around six pounds and lost a good fish when the hook link parted on my last cast of the day. Disappointing, but worth another visit.

It would help newcomers to this beat if there were a sign as you enter the farmyard showing which way to go from there.
