Waited for the heat to come out of the day before starting. Started in Bridge and whilst picking my way through the pool one showed in the V. Another rod was on the lower half of the beat so went up to Rock. A T was fishing the neck. Whilst fishing tail 2 fish showed, shortly after a shout caused me to turn round and see a bent rod. Netted a lovely fish for him. Despite near perfect conditions only a couple a chub disturbed the rest of the evening. Water starting to warm up again.

Beat:The Rectory Fishery

Fishing the Rectory in near perfect conditions again is becoming a rather nice habit this season.
Being 4 nil down to the other rods at lunch time I decided to tackle the bottom of the beat. I decided to wade/scramble between the pools fishing the obvious places and runs when I was rewarded with a grilse of 5-6lbs. It was aken on a black and silver sunray from below the big rock in the "Run". Not the easiest place to land a fish and no chance of chasing a big fish up or down stream. Having worked down the rest of the beat which was full of little brownies I took the wise option and walked up the bank and along the edge of the fields feeling really chuffed that I was still dry and still had an intact rod. Another great day and a jolly good lunch in the Bridge pub.

Dawn at the head of the rock pool with a Heron on the large rock downstream, 3 young otters swimming past, even a few salmon showing lower down, then that wonderful ZZZ and into first Wye Salmon for a few years! Catching another later on in the "Run" at Mid day in bright hot sunshine was just smug. Wife and baby joined me for a picnic lunch. A glorious day. Thank you to the other friendly and helpful rods and also WUF!

Water was still a little coloured but at a good level for the upper part of the beat. One salmon 15lb at the tail of Rock Pool on size 8 Boyo. Fish was a slightly coloured cock. Saw salmon in Ty Mawr above the Gravel Catch but did not meet any others. Very enjoyable day.

Nil return. The best prospect in the high water, gravel
catch, may have been hampered by the persistent presence
of an otter!

Got up early to beat the rain. 1ft 11" with a bit of colour. River well up and too coloured by lunch.
Hooked a strong fish in the tail of Glangwye that decided to head off downstream. Eventually came off after a bit of fun.
Thankyou WUF for clearing the bank.

After losing a fish back in May I've not made it back to the bank with the river in good order, most of the good sport falling midweek which I could not make the most of. So it was great to be back on the rectory in good conditions (Many thanks again). It was snowing last time I fished here! I started early as i knew there was rain on the way which could spoil things for me. At about 1030 I made the most of this opportunity and had a 15lb fresh hen from the top of Rock Pool my first landed on the fly. Fished on untill the river started to come back up again and went home very wet and very happy. Thanks to WUF for making this possible.

River in best nick for a while (2ft and clear) and fished for a hour in morning and another hour in the rain in the evening. One hand shake in the Gravel Catch first up but no further action despite the other rods having fish of 15, 15, 14, 12, 10 and 9lbs. Saw one fish show.
