1'8"(steady after 4" rise overnight) Nil caught, two seen, one about 4/5lb slightly coloured, by the 'mess of rocks' at top of rock pool. Water clear with blazing sunshine all day. First time on beat, took awhile to follow instructions given to find all the parking (grass verges and some wasteland behind some garages) and pools ( bit of an expedition to find lower pools Run and Upper Glangwye). Beat truly offers a bit of everything.

I fished morning through to mid afternoon for trout and grayling. A lovely stretch although a little daunting because of the size and number of pools. I caught a couple of grayling Czech nymphing on the upper rock pool and ended up on the main bend down by the Rectory just as the evening rise kicked off. If I had stayed, I am convinced I could have had a couple of the large browns I saw jump.

1'4" falling, a little bit of colour. A solid take in the rocks by a very strong Salmon (silver stoat). After a couple of minutes it went on such a powerful surge that it made my reel overrun. I'd just about sorted that out when a loop went over the reel handle with inevetable result!
An hour later a small fish (grilse?) rose at TJ's fly just as he lifted off to cast-also in the rock.
The other take was very vicious with no hooking, this on a red Francis in Rectory pool.
An eventful but frustrating day. Thankyou WUF.

Great day. Left just as the trout started rising (typical!). A few really nice Grayling from the Rocks.

Several very small trout, salmon parr and one dace - all on nymphs or a light Cahill dry.
For future reference, please can you tell me whether there is access to the right bank downstream from the church. I couldn't find any way that didn't involve going through someone's garden and I wasn't keen on wading across as the river was fairly high.

WUF note - This section is generally fished from the left bank.

Didn't catch or see a salmon at all. Did land a 2lbs chubb from The Run. I fished hard from 2pm - 8.30pm. The weather was dead against me with heat and bright sun right into the evening. My first visit to this beat and although the water was fading for the top pools, I was really impressed with the variety further down the beat. Cast the fly in most of them. Just seemed a bit quiet on the fish front.
