The day was very good, the river was in very good conditions, we were fishing with all kind of nymphs, the best ones the natual ones pheasant nymphs very heavy in weight to reach the bottom of the river easily. It was a great day.

Beautiful conditions.

1 Trout, 1 Grayling

Quite a long beat with some substantial sized pools but tricky wading in places. Several decent sized fish and a few salmon showing but only managed two small trout and larger one of about 1lb all on small PT nymphs. Very little in the way of obvious fly life even in the evening but interestingly a substantial hatch took place at the top of the beat (also last pool in Ty-Newyyd) but to get to this part you have to drive to the other side of the river and by the time I got there it was over (getting to this section looks like it might be a scramble from the road but theres a very easy path once you've crossed the stile). PLEASE PLEASE thank whoever looks after this beat for cutting the vegetation back to keep the path alongside the river so tidy and accessible. It was a joy not to have the usual assault course and a decent path really helps when carrying gear around.

7 trout to 1.5 lbs, 3 biggest using the Welshpoachering method. 1 grayling to 1.25 lbs all returned.

Gromain was looking glorious on a warm sunny day. All fish taken on a beaded nymph under a klinkhammer. Eight small trout and 3 salmon parr. Fished mainly around the fishing hut area and downstream.

Fished Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for a few hours early morning, with conditions looking favourable, but no sign of any Salmon.

At last - decent weather on a Thursday! And it fell on the day we booked one of our favourite beats too...The river looked in superb condition - clean and flowing well. Not much of a hatch but we could still get the fish looking up to our dries - 22 caught in total, trout and grayling too both to 15" and also 6 greedy salmon parr. The fish are all in super condition - fat and fighting well, especially the grayling in fast water. Someone should tell them to leave our flies alone till next week! All returned fit and healthy, hope to meet them all again when they have grown some more. Very pleasant chat with Mrs M-S out walking the dogs too. River running at 2ft and surprisingly clear. No sign of any fish, did get a heavy knock in Heron's Run but that could have been anything.
Just a word of warning, there is the carcass of a large sheep stuck under the Board on the Bridge Pool, scared me half to death when I spotted it!

Only fished up by the brook for an hour or so, no joy, will be back later in the week when hopefully Monday and Tuesday's rain has shook things up a bit.
