Weather surprisingly good despite the hurricane warning! Water a little improved but not high. Some small trout caught and bigger versions seen, but no salmon.
There are signs to say the beat is patrolled regularly. Perhaps the patrols can remove the increasing amount of rubbish collecting on the beat. There was a rusty bike, a scooter, metal rods, tyres and general rubbish. Very poor indeed.

A lovely day to fish and my favourite beat too. I have been keeping an eye on the weather and water levels and though it was worth a punt. It wasn't! The water was pretty low and virtually little sign of fish all day. There were a couple rising at the bottom, but no sign of salmon sadly. I hope I was just unlucky.

Probably not the best time to come, but the only window available for me before the season end. Advised by a guy from the farm I walked past the burgeoning balsam to the lower end of the beat where "the boys" would normally fish in low water conditions. I was greeted by some spectacular aerobatic displays by some pretty impressive fish, one in particular will stay in my mind for years to come! But alas, connecting with these bruisers proved another matter. With no discernible hatch and exhausting my repertoire/fly selection I moved up stream to more rises, constant throughout the day bar the showers late afternoon/early evening. I just could not connect with anything, even trying the French leader set up (more work needed with that methinks!). Ok, the conditions weren't the best but this must have been the most frustrating day I have had fishing, and I've had a few. A blank to be recorded and a retaliatory re-booking next season! River low but still fishable in certain areas. Fish cruising all day but not really interested in a wide range of flies offered, both wet and dry. 1 fish just under a pound taken from the tail of the top pool on a Diawl Bach. Evidence of spinner fishing on top pool with spinners attached to power lines!
Lovely beat even though water low. Would be tempted to come back when more water around.
On the downside, the whole beat has been invaded by Japanese Knotweed which is in need of eradication.

2 Trout

No bites, tugs or takes of any description. To be fair I forgot my weighted nymphs this trip but it doesn't stop me being disappointed by the total lack of any sign of sizeable fish. An expensive fishery, beautiful location and sunny day, I think perhaps the price should be reduced when considering this beat allows two fish to be removed per rod. If numbers of fish removed overtake fish reproduction then the fishery may decline too. Not sure if this is already happening.

Warm, mainly sunny day, light northerly breeze. Water clear, averaging knee deep. Nice stretch of river, upper section easier to access (more shingle/gravel banks). Medium olive dun in afternoon with occasional rises throughout the day mainly subsurface feeders, although two leapt more than their body length clear of the surface. Caught two trout, both returned: 1 on a gold head nymph - a good 1 1/2 lbs, lovely markings. the second smaller than the first but 1 lb + caught on a adult peacock body buzzer. Hard work but a good day.

Very low water, nil caught.

Unsettled weather, sunny in the morning, followed by mostly cloudy afternoon with shower in the evening. Started fishing with EHC plus small BH nymph as a dropper. Despite the warm sunshine, almost no fish rising in the morning. Did not get any reaction by casting upstream. Fish were not been active before late evening, when rising increased significantly around 8pm. Caught a small brownie at the end. I fished this beat last September and caught more than ten nice brownies. Maybe it is not a good season for the fishing. Lovely beat, that I will back on this autumn.

5 Browns, 0.5lb to 1lb. Very sunny, very hot and hard going but great stretch of water.

A few fish rising on arrival around midday, river in good condition. Caught on goldhead PTN. All fish caught were small, a larger fish hooked briefly. Rose several fish on CDC olive but didn't connect.
