Arrived around 11 o'clock and fished until 6pm. Conditions looked perfect and caught my first fish around 13:30. A barbel of around 5lb which turned out to be the best fish of the day! Ended the day with 3 barbel and 2 chub all on swim feeder and pellet.

The weather was windy with heavy showers and river was a couple of feet above summer levels but steady.

Unfortunately I arrived too late in the day and decided not to fish.

Not my best days fishing on the Wye but nice scenery. A small chub saved my blank and the fisherman opposite caught a lot of small barbel to prove there are plenty in there! Quite a shallow beat, with only one deeper swim so not a lot of swim choice but well kept and nice place to spend a day.

River low and clear, but rising a little in the evening. Weather bright and breezy. Tried trotting for chub to start with, but no long runs between the weed, which was thick and little more than a foot from the surface. Changed to straight leger and sweetcorn and had three barbel and lost two others in an hour mid-afternoon. The bites dried up so moved to another swim for the evening where I picked up five more barbel and a chub on pellet. Fish up to about six pounds. An enjoyable six hour session.

Apart from a large shoal of Chub and a few Barbel in the deeper glide below the second willow on the right bank there were not many fish around that I could find.
However the level was really low at sub 0.3 on the gauge at Ross so I suspect the Salmon were below me at the top of ‘The Creel’ beat which course anglers seem to ignore as it’s furthest from the car park; a shame as it holds the most Barbel!
Good to be on my favourite beat yet again and looking forward to a lift in water levels and the inevitable run of end of season fish.
