No barbel today but my friend caught a small river carp. I had a lot of chub on the fly and on bread crust. This is a small, well kept productive stretch. We will be back.

River was low and fairly slow flowing, we fished a ground bait feeder with 1 foot hook length all fish fell to luncheon meat. The largest fish was 3lb 9oz.

River was low and clear but fished well in the morning then turned quiet in the afternoon. Most fish came to pellets feeder tactics.

Great to be back on this well maintained but small stretch again and a good days fishing. Fished four hours early morning and four in the afternoon/early evening. Usual variety of baits used and caught on all. Many thanks.

Started fishing about half way down on the left hand bank (as you look from the bridge). Loose fed handfuls of pellet with a selection of ledgered hook baits (8-14mm halibut pellets, 8mm robin red, code red boilies, peperami etc)some wrapped in paste, some not, but despite a few bites, nothing hooked until 3pm when I swapped to the float rod and trotted a big chunk of crust down and hooked a nice chub (2lb or so) within seconds.
Moved further down to the last swim just in the faster water and alternated between float and ledger rod. Had 1 Barbel of 8lb and another nice Chub on the ledger rod but the rest of the fish came to bread on the float. All Chub were in 2-3lb range and only stopped fishing when I ran out of bread (only took a couple of rolls because they were out of date!). Next time I would take a couple of crusty loaves and mashed bread and really focus on trotting instead of sitting watching a motionless rod tip.
River was low and clear with good access down from the banks with steps down to most swims. Parking within a few metres of the start of the beat makes this perfect for the lazy amongst us and the bridge gives a good vantage point to survey the river.

Travelled from Essex during the morning for a 3 day trip. Fished for just a few hours in the afternoon, very hot and humid. Just 2 chub to show for my efforts.

First time on this very pleasant stretch. Conditions were warm, the river low and very clear. The chub fishing is clearly very good, but only one barbel caught. I am not sure how prolific they are in this particular stretch.
I would certainly fish here again.

Feeder fished corn, meat and pellets. Fishing was excellent despite low water. Unfortunately had to leave early as a large brummy family decided they would ignore the 'fishing permit holders only' sign and decided to swim/jump/throw things in the river by the bridge.
