Low, clear water. Sunny day, with a cool, gusty, northerly breeze. Fishing was slow, but bites came in the shade, riffles and ripples created by the breeze.

The river was very low and gin clear, and the strong breeze did not help the fishing. Nothing showing, but signs of spooked fish as we moved along the beat. The out of season trout and the grayling all fell to small weighted nymphs, but there is no sign of the grayling shoaling up yet as the weather continues to be mild.
I have fished this beat for a few years, but rarely have I seen the upstream section so difficult to access.

After a wash off the wye due to flood water, I fished here in the afternoon, only one grayling caught the size of my finger, but still a pleasant afternoon.

River was low and clear running on a warm and slightly overcast evening. A very short session in the end, late in the day but rewarded with a 12'' Grayling in lovely condition, took a barbless Klinkhammer on a slow drift in one of the smaller pools, lots of fish rising, and missed a few other takes. Access is a little difficult in places. Quiet and peaceful beat with a friendly resident Kingfisher, if only the Lower Lugg was this clean.

River really low and clear. No real hatch and the only fish rising were fingerings. None of the fish caught were greater than 6/7", but still an enjoyable day.
Thanks to all at W & U, and the fishery owner.

All fish taken on a small gold bead ptn. Almost half of the Grayling were small fingerlings but the rest were fin perfect 6 - 8". River starting to show it's bones and gin clear and the sun was bright all day.
Thanks to the Wye and Usk.

Low water level, as expected, at Eyton and quite warm. Lots of fingerlings about rising to a rusty klinkhammer but not many larger fish showing. Did catch three brown trout about 8". Enjoyable session nevertheless.

Virtually no flow - fish taken in what faster moving pools I could find. All caught on weighted nymph. Nothing big caught - best trout was 8" best grayling was 10". Also caught one par.
Within the beat description it tells us that wading in the wooded areas is difficult as is access in and out of river. This is too true! A large part of the lower beat (downstream from foot bridge) is incredibly deep and dangerous to wade but fishing from the bank is not an option.
I was a little disappointed at this as £20 to fish it does not represent good value as large parts of it are inaccessible - barbed wire fences with no safe crossing places and fallen trees across river made it doubly difficult. Once I got to the wooded area towards the upstream limit I gave up and went home having only fished about 25% of the beat. I am reasonably fit and strong too - an older, less agile person would really struggle here.
