A pleasant day, with the river fining down after last weekend’s high levels. Only one bite though, to pellet feeder fished with a cut down boilie. Not a sniff on maggot, much to my surprise. Lots of bird life to watch though as always

River was still pushing through quite hard with a touch of colour. I opted to fish with meat that I had coloured and marinated with my home made tikka sauce with some small offerings of meat and pellet in a PVA bag. Had one barbel to 5 lbs and a 3 1/2 lb chub.

No outstanding catch return here! River levels extremely high as the early morning recorded a level of 3.5ft and by the end of the session was 8.5ft! Was thinking of a wash off but you never know with barbel and floodwater as in the past have done well on other rivers with high levels. Fished my usual line of attack with baits etc but very difficult to hold anywhere apart from the near margin. Suffice to say it wasn't to be this time round and didn't even have a single bite. Still a cracking place to be in the Wye valley

Lovely crisp day with a blanket of snow on the ground, would’ve made a lovely photo opportunity with a pike but it wasn’t to be. Two rods fished dawn til dusk with ledgered dead baits. One take missed and another fish lost, both took a sardine. Beautiful stretch of river, will definitely be back for revenge!

Tough going, but managed to get 2 Pike, 11lb & 9lb. First fish fell to a float ledgered bluey tail and the second to a suspended sardine.

Sadly the beat was not accessible as road closed for resurfacing. Rang Don for advice and he let me fish Wyebank instead. Temp not above 5c all day but a nice chub hung itself on the line to make me feel better.

A lovley mild day the sun even put in an appearance for a while, River was low & clear. Didn't expect much action so was pleasantly surprised when 2 Barbel came along. Both fish were caught on pellet from the meadow, a very pleasant day will be back soon

A return to the Courtfield beat of the Wye. Another mild day and previous night. Started later than anticipated due to a visit to the vets for my dog! Fished top meadow with my usual boilie/pellet attack on one rod and tried maggots on the other. Not a touch on the maggots ( probably presentation due to fishing heavier than normal because of the countless snags that litter the Wye) but ended up with a barbel just shy of 8lb and 3 chub all over 4lb to 4lb 10oz.

Another enjoyable session on the river and looking forward to the warm days of summer!

A mild day and previous night for a session on the wonderful Wye. Started on the bottom section with no joy so after 4 hrs of fishing a couple of swims moved to the top meadow where I ended up with 2 average chub and 2 barbel which included my second double from the Wye ......fantastic! Fished the usual pellets and boilies on either the straight lead or feeder. Also tried meat with no joy. The river was still up a bit about 1.5ft with slight colour. A very enjoyable day will be back real soon!
