Significant trickle of mayfly all afternoon and decided to target big rising fish with dries. Could not get any takers on flat water, but found some good sport in the slightly broken water in the pool upstream of the bridge, solid fish, two over 2lb, two close to it. All on french partridge with a stiff palmer hackle. Decided to try a zonker streamer at 7pm for a change, but nothing doing. There were some big fish close to the bank on the lower part of the beat, but steep and overgrown banks prevented access - and I am pretty intrepid. Will be back, the trout are so fit and feisty.

What a lovely stretch of the river Usk. weather was overcast with a few sunny spells later in the afternoon. Fishing upstream of the bridge there were lots of fish rising in the afternoon but not taking dries off the surface. Also told the same by the previous days angler who I chatted to. No fish caught and no takes.
We both found access to the river difficult and limited down both banks, especially the right bank upriver of the bridge. Some areas described as easy wading gravel were in fact more difficult with large rocks and boulders but we did find some good areas to wade. Not really able to fish from the banks as high sided and overgrown.
Disappointing that we didn't catch but will definately return soon and use different technique next time.
Overall still a lovely stretch of river that clearly holds fish.

Perfect weather and water, plenty of fish showing early and late, couldn't be sure what species however because I didn't catch a single one :)

A slow morning again but a busy afternoon again, 4 small trout 6-8 inch missed 2 heavy grabs and lost 3 sizeable fish in the deeper water.

Very helpful owner who gave advice the night before the visit. Water was a little high which made wading difficult.
Sadly no fish caught or seen, but a great spot and will return in the future.
