First time at Chainbridge, and the river level looked ideal for salmon (1.09m and falling). Fished the whole beat, but sadly no salmon caught. I did pick up a few out-of-season brown trout, including one around 1.25lb. Many thanks to the beat owner Barry for for his patience and generosity in showing me the beat and even acting as Ghillie for the morning - a real gent.

A final fish of the season. 2 to 3 hours into the darkness. Very occasional rises and no fish could be tempted with a dry fly.
There's always next year.

I started just below the bridge and worked my way up the right bank. A few fish rising and I fooled one with a dry but the hook didn't stick. Water was deeper than I expected and wading with waist-waders was challenging. An enjoyable 2-3 hours that would have been improved with a fish in the net!

Unusually cold day, sadly very little activity. Had one take, and saw 1-2 rising. Better luck next time!

Small double barbless fly. No salmon seen. Water level low. Enjoyable but v cold early morning's fishing.

A rising river, gin clear and full of leaves conspired against us. Not one fish seen all day, no bites either. Casting wasn’t helped by the very strong and gusty downstream wind.

Met the delightful owner Barry had a a lovely day saw a number of decent salmon but failed to hook one.

Ideal water height and clarity today. Saw plenty of activity, quite a fair few takes, and netted a decent-sized brown trout just above the bridge on an orange/olive GRHE. Many thanks again to the beat owner for his advice on the phone. Will be back again.
