Spent the day dry fly fishing for trout, unfortunately nothing caught. Saw very few rises and there wasn't much insect activity. Still had a lovely day next to the river.

Didn't see any rising fish till very late on, and there was no interest in the weighted nymph. One or two rises to klinkhammer.

Took the family for lunch at the newly reopened Chainbribge Pub, food was good and my son landed his first salmon within 10 minutes of finishing lunch. It was only a 4lb grilse but a very welcome 4th course. This is the 3rd salmon in 2 days in front of the pub and more have been caught above the bridge..There seem to be plenty of fish in the river.

Water at 650cm, ideal conditions. Fish visibly active in the morning, with one 5lb salmon falling to a Flying C (red and silver lure) before lunch. Water falling slightly p.m. and no further salmon seen.

River .7 on the gauge and quite peaty, started spinning downstream of the bridge and on his 3rd cast my brother (Jason) connected and landed a 3lb fresh grilse in front of the pub, I had a fresh bar of silver present its self twice right in front of me by the cables but unfortunately wasn't interested in my offerings? We then fished above the bridge and at the upper rocks I had a vicious take on a F.C but unfortunately after a brief standoff and a lot of head shaking salmon won to fight another day! Switched to the fly after lunch as clarity of water had improved and although things felt very fishy no more fish were caught? Another great day on this lovely beat.

I took my dad fishing for his Birthday. We tested out a new one handed reel (required following a stroke). The platforms were in good condition which enabled him to fish a weighted fly and a wet down and across from a chair. Walk down the bank was possible with a bit of support. Result = Two small wild brown. First non still water fish post stroke. Thanks.

Decided to fish after the heavy rain had departed. Arrived at midday and water .65m with some colour. Put up the spinning rod with Red and gold single hook FC and on arrival at the rock a fish showed. It took one cast, and twenty minutes later after a battle, I was rewarded with a 34" 15lb freshly run fish.
At around 3pm I saw a fish at the same spot, moved above it and with a cast upstream had the fish on. However, it detached after several jumps, another fresh run fish of around 6lb. Guess this fish was on the move as the water had risen to .8m, and contact was made about 10 yds upstream from where it showed.
After a couple more hours above and below the bridge the water had risen to .9m and had become quite dirty, so we left the water. No trout seen at all, but some mayfly about mid afternoon. My colleague had no luck.
---and Wales topped their group at Euro 2016!!! What a day!!!
